Trish WNot being a local, when my Mother suffered a severe stroke whilst visiting Bellingen, it was of great comfort to both myself and Mum that she had all the support of close family living in Kalang to guide her out of the darkness. I cannot imagine how much more lonely and frightening her journey would have been had she been in Coffs harbour, whichat that time had no staff to offer any support whatever! The staff at Bellingen knew the family, took a personal interest, and were accessible. Later, as a resident of Bellorana Nursing Home, the staff had hospital facilities nearby to complete the care they were able to give. If this is prompted by a suggestion that Bellingen Hospital should be closed, I'm afraid the NSW Govt. must have totally lost the plot.....are you MAD????
